Reviewing the earliest mock draft projections

A year ago we dared to publish a mock draft at the end of June with projections for the 12 players to go in the first round of the 2009 I-75 League draft. An ambitious venture, to be sure, with less than half of the regular season completed to that point. Here's how those picks turned out:

1. Edinson Volquez -- First round (eighth overall) to Springfield.
2. Evan Longoria -- First round (first overall) to Tropical.
3. Jay Bruce -- First round (fourth overall) to Margaritaville
4. Gavin Floyd -- Eighth round to South Grand Prairie
5. Kosuke Fukodome -- Undrafted
6. Carlos Quentin -- First round (fifth overall) to South Grand Prairie
7. Ryan Dempster -- First round (12th overall) to Hickory
8. Nate McLouth -- First round (second overall) to Detroit
9. Kerry Wood -- Third round to Bushwood
10. Justin Duchscherer -- Second round to Tropical
11. Skip Schumaker -- Eighth round to Springfield
12. Brandon Morrow -- Fifth round to Tropical

Six out of 12 projections did go in the first round. Can we improve on that mark while making our initial projections even earlier?
