Demolition Dogs demolishing Clips

In two of the least-fun Strat games ever played, the Detroit Demolition Dogs whacked the Clips 8-3 and 10-1 in the opening two games of their May series.

Even 'lousy' weather couldn't stop Detroit from cranking three homers in the Game One victory, while Greg Maddux went the distance on a three-hitter. Bonds, Sosa and Walker all homered.

The Clips lined into two double plays (one following a leadoff triple) and grounded into another.

Game Two damage was done by Sosa and Walker with longballs, and Pudge with a four-hit, three-RBI night. Barry Zito got his first win after seven losses, with relief help from Dan Miceli.

Update: The pain continued for Applegate in Game Three, as Al Leiter held the Clips to three hits, and Mike Lamb broke up a 1-1 tie in the ninth for Detroit with an RBI single that scored Ken Griffey Jr., who had doubled. Lamb's hit came off Adam Eaton as both starters went the distance. The 2-1 win gave Detroit a 3-0 lead in the series.
